Derek is a Managing Partner and is responsible for executing Romspen’s business development plan. Derek has an extensive background in law, banking and finance in Canada and the U.S. Over the past 20 years, Derek has held a variety of senior management positions inside leading financial institutions including 10 years of origination and trading experience. Derek has led several large-scale change management initiatives, including the establishment of a cleared swap trading desk for a large pension fund and the creation of a derivatives clearinghouse mandated by the Bank of Canada to meet G7 commitments. Prior to joining Romspen in 2015, Derek was at a large U.S. defence contractor where he worked with senior members of the U.S. intelligence community.
Derek holds an MBA and a Master’s of Finance (MFin) from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. In addition, Derek holds a Master’s of Securities Law (LL.M) from Osgoode Hall.
